Being able to view your CPAP data enables you to:

  • Self-monitor your therapy, so you don't have to wait for your next doctor's appointment to realize there's a problem with your mask or settings.
  • See more detailed data than you can with the app that came with your machine.
  • Get set for success with our CPAP coaching services - so we'll have data available to look at during our time together.

Because getting your own download data can feel overwhelming and complicated, we've complied a list of options we're familiar with and have had decent results with.

How to use this page...

CPAP coaching clients

Review and choose one of the options below to make sure we have download data available for review during your upcoming session.

Sleep HQ is preferred for coaching clients.

Clinic patients

If we are not able to obtain your download data through our normal process, we'll use one of these methods as our back up plan.

Self-monitoring (while helpful) is optional.

Just browsing

Most listings below will help you keep tabs on your CPAP therapy between doctor visits.

For assistance with deciphering the data, check with your healthcare team or sign up as a coaching client.

Self-Download Options

Sleep HQ

Our preferred download review platform for coaching clients.

Cloud-based platform for self-monitoring CPAP download data.

Currently supported machine manufacturers include ResMed, Respironics, Fisher & Paykel, and Lowenstein.

Free-forever and paid plans available.

You control who has access to your data - easily share and un-share.

You will need...

  • An SD card, a card reader, and a computer with an internet connection to move the data.
  • A free Sleep HQ account using the same email address you’ve supplied to our office.
  • Connect your Sleep HQ account with ours via this link: https://sleephq.com/connect/hello_sleep_health

Sleep HQ Tips & Troubleshooting

  1. Paid plan not required. Free accounts eventually revert to a limited data review window. When your account is linked to ours (not just shared), we will be able to look at all the data you have uploaded.
  2. The invitation to link accounts is for clients and clients-in-progress only.
  3. First time uploads & cards with lots of data: Upload in chunks rather than all at once. Check out the Upload Troubleshooting video (below) for a walk through of how to make sure your data goes in the first time.
  4. Not all machines come with an SD card. If you've been using your machine without an SD card, the data that shows up from before the card was put in may not have the same level of detail as the data after the card was put in.
  5. Unless you get the Magic Uploader (which is optional), you'll want to upload the latest data from your machine 1-2 days before your next session.
  6. You can disconnect your Sleep HQ account from ours at any time. Your data on the platform will no longer be viewable to our office.

  7. Using Sleep HQ  does not impact the data that lives on your machine or your healthcare team’s ability to view your download data in the native download app.

Oscar - Open Source CPAP Analysis Reporter

The most private & versatile option listed.

An open-source program that lives on your computer. No cost to install or run.

Compatible with multiple operating systems and available in multiple languages.

Supports multiple machine types and use of multiple machines.

Old-school interface & more complicated to use than Sleep HQ.

For the tech savvy, this option gets the job done.

Software updates are available periodically to fix bugs and add functionality.

What you'll need...

  • SD card and card reader to move your data.
  • Internet connection to download OSCAR.
  • Install OSCAR.
  • Set up your profile inside the program.
  • Download your SD card.
  • Generate your reports for the date range of your preference.
    • CPAP Statistics Report - shows statistics on use, setting changes, and machine details.
    • Overview Report - shows the data in graph format.
  • Upload your report pdfs to the client portal before your visit.

OSCAR Tips & Troubleshooting

  1. Because this is a program that gets installed onto your computer, there is a risk (though small) for a breach in your computer's security. If you are not comfortable in accepting this risk, do not use this option.
  2. When setting up your profile you'll want to include your name, date of birth, and machine details. This is information that will populate onto the reports you'll generate and upload. Anything you upload into our client portal needs to look like it belongs to you and not a different person.
  3. Viewable data is not as detailed as Sleep HQ, but it is comparable to what most sleep doctors look at when seeing patients in the office.

Doctor's Office/DME Download Options

If you don't want to mess with technology but do want to take advantage of our CPAP coaching services, your best bet for getting a copy of your download data may be to reach out to your sleep doctor's office or the respiratory therapist with your DME vendor.

With your permission, they can provide a copy of your CPAP data report to you or send us a copy directly.

What to ask for...

  • Date Range: The last year of data or since you started using your machine - whichever makes the most sense for your situation
  • Report Type:
    • For ResMed devices: Compliance & Therapy Report
    • For Respironics devices: Trend Report

How to get the report to us...

  1. Direct document upload through the client portal, or
  2. HIPAA Compliant Fax to 1-888-810-6201, or
  3. Snail Mail to Hello Sleep Health LLC, 75 Park St, Suite 13, Lewiston ME 04240Allow 10-14 days for arrival.

Machine Apps

Most machine apps will allow report generation as a pdf that you can share electronically.

They round out our list at the bottom because...

  • The viewable data categories are the most limited at of all the options listed, and
  • They can get stuck and stay stuck - which isn't helpful when you want to look at last night's data.
